Vanuatu Climate Adaptation Project 2 — VCAP-2

A ‘Ridge to Reef’ and ‘whole-of-island’ approach to building socio-ecological resilience builds on the premise that communities are highly dependent on terrestrial and marine ecosystems for their livelihoods, cultural identity, and well-being. The proximity of the land to the coast threatens terrestrial resources and impacts the marine environment directly. Thus, an integrated approach to managing these environments was deemed holistically essential.

Ecosystem Services worked within a consortium to develop the project design for UNDP which was funded under GEF 7. A range of strategies and project activities linked to the core objectives are planned to minimise the main environmental issues previously identified outside ‘tabu’ areas.
