Ecosystem Services is a registered environmental consulting firm located in Waikanae, Wellington Region, New Zealand. Our core focus is the provision of innovative environmental solutions to protect nature’s benefits to society on three different continents–Africa, Asia and Oceania/Pacific.
We are a client-focused and results driven company that provides broad-based experience. We are small enough to provide personalised services but work on the principle of cooperation through the utilisation of a strong network of associate organisations and individuals whom provide ‘end to end’ support in the service areas we target.
Whilst we offer a wide range of environmental consulting services, we specialise in community-based environmental restoration, ecosystem mapping, environmental change and environmental education, assisting ecosystems and people adapt to change by planning for the future. We work at all levels of society; from communities, to governments, to non-governmental agencies, to large intergovernmental and regional organisations.
At Ecosystem Services, our client’s best interest comes first, and everything we do is guided by our values and professional ethics. We ensure that we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards by providing our clients with the best adaptive management advice and design support tools to meet their needs.
Dave Loubser
Dave is a seasoned environmental scientist with over four decades of experience in ecosystem services, nature-based solutions and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
His career is marked by a commitment to enhancing human well-being through sustainable natural resource management.

Our vision is to provide sound and ethical advice and solutions to Climate Change interventions, Nature-based Solutions, Ecosystem Service management and other environmental activities across New Zealand, the Pacific region and beyond.

Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC)
Ecosystem Services Ltd. commits to ensuring that all community members are informed, consulted, and active participants in decision-making processes before any projects begin, safeguarding their rights and self-determination.
Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK)
Our approach values and integrates the profound environmental wisdom held by Indigenous peoples and local communities and recognises this knowledge as essential for long-term sustainability and effective environmental stewardship.
Engagement
Ecosystem Services Ltd. works with all sector levels, from regional intergovernmental CROP agencies to grassroots communities, to design and implement essential, tailored management solutions.
Gender, Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI)
We work within this framework for development and programming as it prioritises the needs and perspectives of all individuals, with a particular focus on marginalised groups. We aim to ensure that development initiatives are inclusive, equitable, and sustainable by addressing systemic inequalities and promoting the empowerment of diverse communities. We seek to support voices with lived experience and understand the complexities of bias, resistance, backlash, and the risk of violence in a ‘Do No Harm’ manner.
