‘Securing Kiribati’
IUCN - International Union for Conservation

Ecosystem-based approaches that support biodiversity to climate change are well-suited to contributing to or complementing local, national, and regional Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) strategies. Ecosystem Services and partners C2O and Ecothropic have developed a project incorporating these approaches to assist the Government.

The common thread of this project is the sustainable use and protection of natural ecosystems and the services they provide with the reduction of the vulnerability of human communities to the adverse effects of climate change and to enhance their ability to adapt to changing climatic conditions. This project will involve awareness building, education, capacity building, protection area development, management, and strengthening as well as livelihood consolidation through five island communities in the Climate-SMART agriculture and aquacultural sectors.
