Consultant to the International Union for Conservation (IUCN), Geneva Head Office, Switzerland.
The IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas (GLPCA) represents a pioneering global standard for best practices in area-based conservation. This initiative recognises and promotes well-managed, effectively governed, protected and conserved areas worldwide. The IUCN Green List plays a pivotal role in advancing the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) 30 x 30 goals by ensuring that protected and conserved areas are managed to the highest standards, fostering effective and equitable conservation efforts globally.
Ecosystem Services Ltd. was contracted to conduct a desktop cost-effectiveness analysis to aid in efficiently allocating resources and maximising conservation outcomes within the framework of the Green List Programme. The final CEA report presents clear findings and recommendations for short-, medium-, and long-term actions.
Our recommendations informed strategic decisions and helped develop a sustainable financial model for the Green List Programme by identifying funding sources and financial mechanisms to support innovative financing strategies informed by survey insights.
