Blue Carbon Strategy:
Live and Learn Australia

Blue Carbon is the Carbon sequestered by healthy marine ecosystems. The current view is that these ecosystems include; mangrove forests, seagrass meadows, and salt marshes. Based on the many years of experience in the protection and measurement of Carbon and other ecosystem services these ecosystems support, Ecosystem Services was contracted by Live & Learn (Australia) to develop a strategy for the implementation of Blue Carbon projects within the countries where Live & Learn operate. The focus of this strategy is on the tangible benefits communities might gain from protecting and managing these ecosystems, including; ecosystem services, biodiversity, and financial (from the monetising of stored Carbon stocks) benefits.
